 Program Options

GlobaLinks Learning Abroad Internships are available in most every field of study. All of our internship placements include the same high quality placements and inclusions; however, there are different program models in order to suit all applicants. The following structural options are available in all locations world-wide and all internships are unpaid.

Programs Available:

Study Internship Combination Programs

Spend a semester or year abroad taking a part-time load of classes at select universities in Australia, New Zealand, Spain or Wales while undertaking a professional internship in your field at a local company. You will receive credit from the host university, for both the classes and the internship, on an official university transcript and be considered a full-time student.

Global Career-Building Internships

10 Week Internships

  • Four pre-set intakes each year
  • Includes our multi-day on-site Bridging Cultures Program orientation
  • Includes option for add-on Credit through Chapman University

6 Week Internships (not available in Hong Kong)

  • Four pre-set intakes each year
  • Includes our multi-day on-site Bridging Cultures Program orientation
  • Includes option for add-on Credit through Chapman University

Custom Date Internships

Custom Date Internship placements are available for interns who are unable to participate in one of our pre-set 6 or 10-week placements for any one of the following reasons:

  • You cannot attend the program during the pre-set dates.
  • You need an internship duration other than 6 or 10 weeks.

Academic Credit Option

You have the option to add an academic credit component to the 10 or 6 week internship programs (academic credit is not available for the Custom Date Internships). Academic credit is issued by our school of record, Chapman University, which has a strong mission in developing global citizens. If you select this option, in addition to the hours that you will work at the internship site, you will have standard written assignments items to complete.

Students must have completed at least 45 credit hours and achieved a minimum 2.5/4.0 GPA to add on academic credit.

Eligibility

Our internship programs are available to current students as well as recent graduates. There are specific eligibility requirements for some destination due to immigration visa restrictions:

Australia and New Zealand:

  • Between the ages of 18-30 at the time of application (immigration visa requirement).  Participants over the age of 30 may be eligible for a placement in New Zealand if they are receiving academic credit.
  • Citizen of the US, Canada, UK, Ireland, France, Germany, Netherlands, Hong Kong and Japan are all eligible for the program. We may be able to assist students from other countries, so please inquire with our office if your citizenship is not listed.

Shanghai, China and Hong Kong:

  • Citizens of the U.S., Canada, Europe, UK, China, Hong Kong and some additional countries are eligible. We may be able to assist students from other countries, so please inquire with our office if your citizenship is not listed.
  • Must be 18 or older at the time of application

Valencia, Spain:

  • Citizens of the U.S., Canada, Europe and the UK are eligible.
  • Must be 18 or older at the time of application

Santiago, Chile:

  • Citizens of the U.S. and Canada
  • Must be 18 or older at the time of application

Singapore:

  • Citizens of the U.S., Canada, Europe and the UK are eligible.
  • Must be 18 or older at the time of application

London, England:

  • If not an EU citizen, you must be enrolled as a full-time degree-level student or a graduate intending to begin your internship no more than 12 months beyond the end of study
  • Must be 18 or older at the time of application
