Step 1: Choose Your Destination Internships in Shanghai and Hong Kong , Internships in Europe, and internships in Australia or New Zealand all have different applications. So the first step in the process is to determine which part of the world you would like to intern in. To apply, the following must be turned in to our office prior to the designated deadline: - A complete application (hard copy or online)
- $30 USD application fee payable to GlobaLinks Learning Abroad
- Current official transcript(s)
- Personal statement
- Cover letter and resume
- Two letters of reference
There are no guarantees that you will be placed in an internship, but the success rate of placements is very high. You can send in all application items together or piece-by-piece and let us take care of organizing it for you. Once your application is complete and the program deposit is paid, your application will be sent overseas for placement. The decision time on applications is generally 3-4 weeks, although it can sometimes take longer. If your application does not meet the requirements, you may be considered for a Custom Date Internship. Acceptance into an Internship Abroad program is not guaranteed as decisions are determined by the internship sites. Our internship abroad programs manager is available to consult on specific placement opportunities. Because applications are accepted on a rolling basis, some sites may already be full at the time of your application. Call 1-800-980-0033 Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. (MST) if you have any questions. Explanations of Required Application Materials Application Form Complete the application form (PDF) (front and back) including all required signatures. You can also apply online by creating a MyLearn account. Official Transcript Order one official transcript from your home university or community college. You must, at minimum, be at the start of your junior year for a PDAC placement. For Custom Date and PDNC placements, you can submit a high school transcript if you have not yet completed any college-level courses. If you are a transfer student and have only just completed your first semester at your home university, please send a copy of your previous university or college results. Transcripts must be official. Two Letters of Reference You will need to obtain two separate letters of reference on letterhead from an employer, academic advisor, or professor. Once completed, they can be mailed directly to our office or, if in electronic form, you can upload them to your MyLearn account. Photographs Obtain four 2” x 2” photographs (of your head and shoulders). Black and white or color are both acceptable. These are for identification purposes on several forms and must be sent with your application. Please write your name on the back of each photo. Resume and Cover Letter Please submit a current one-page resume and a cover letter along with your application. You should focus your cover letter on describing the type of internship you are seeking and your goals for that internship. Please refrain from referencing a specific internship placement in your cover letter. This will ensure that the letter is applicable for more than one placement site. Application Fee Write a check for $30 USD payable to GlobaLinks Learning Abroad. Canadian students should obtain a USD bank draft. This fee can be paid online by credit card if you use the online application. The application fee is non-refundable.
