Each year, GlobaLinks Learning Abroad sponsors a Partner Appreciation Luncheon at the annual NAFSA conference. Our partners from abroad and North American affiliates are invited to join us for a working lunch on Wednesday where we highlight our recent achievements and present our Future International Educator Award to our Alumnus/Alumna of the Year. The Luncheon is a wonderful opportunity to meet our partners and catch up with education abroad colleagues and friends.
Luncheon highlights in the past included: - Guest speakers: past speakers have included Christie Doherty, the Chair of the Foundation for Global Scholars and members of the Embassy staff for one of our member countries
- A look at our latest initiatives, such as our work on sustainability
- A short performance or video presentation (i.e., in 2009, we showed a student-made video project called “The Australia Project”, an inventive documentary created by two students who took part in one of our Professional Development for Academic Credit internships in Sydney, Australia)
- Presentation of our Alumnus/Alumna of the Year Award
2011 Alumna of the Year - Leslie Pitman A recent graduate from Queen's University of Charlotte in Charlotte, North Carolina, Leslie Pitman spent a semester abroad with GlobaLinks Learning Abroad at Kingston University in London, England.
