| Service is one of our core organizational values. We extend this value to our students by encouraging them to get involved while abroad and give back to their host community and/or country. No matter which location or program, they choose, our program participants can volunteer during their time abroad to add value to their experience and make an invalulable contribution to their surroundings. We Provide Local Volunteer Information We provide students with volunteer abroad information specific to their location, and in some countries, we provide direct access to specific volunteer organizations and projects. For example, in Australia, students who participate in the GlobaLinks Learning Abroad semester abroad or year abroad program have the opportunity to participate in a weekend-long conservation volunteer project at a location near their university abroad through Conservation Volunteer Australia. This unique program is an amazing opportunity to give back to the environment of Australia while learning about local environmental issues and spending time with other students and a volunteer trip leader. Learn more about the Australia Conservation Volunteer Weekend option> And, when students return, we offer volunteer abroad program resources and ideas on how they can volunteer to contribute to the international education community. We Incorporate Volunteer Work Into Our Programming Where possible and relevant, we have also incorporated volunteer service into our programming. For example, our Challenge New Zealand Leadership Development Short Course includes a half-day service project at a local school in Wellington. And, our 5-day Bridging Cultures Program (our on-site orientation program for all semester/year abroad students) in both Australia and New Zealand includes a Community Day where students interact with locals while volunteering in the community. |
