GlobaLinks Learning Abroad Alumni enCompass Program

The GlobaLinks Learning Abroad enCompass program allows alumni to connect their personal passions and interests with their recent experience abroad. Alumni have the opportunity to focus their energy to creatively and tangibly express and share their experiences with potential participants, current participants, and alumni as well as others.

Students have the option to complete activities in seven main areas:
    • Knowledge Sharing - write about their experience for publication
    • Visual Arts - create slideshows of images from their time abroad
    • Social Media and Technology - speak in a casual setting with other students
    • Global Citizen / Volunteerism - volunteer to help the international community at large
    • Research and Academics - incorporate their experience into academics
    • Planning for the Future (looking forward) - career planning
    • Promote International Education - attending study abroad fairs with our staff, holding information sessions on campus, being an alumni referral, etc.
These activites will give students a productive outlet for the knowledge they’ve gained and experiences they’ve had abroad. It is meant to be another tool to help them examine and develop the depth of their experience.

Completing the Program

To complete the enCompass Program, participants must successfully complete any five activities from the above areas. When an Alumna/Alumnus completes the enCompass Program, they become eligible to apply for the Future International Educator or Alumna/Alumnus of the Year Award. This is a unique opportunity designed for student interested in pursuing a career in the field of international education.

The recipient of this Award will earn a trip to the national NAFSA conference, and be recognized at the annual GlobaLinks Learning Abroad Affiliate Advisor Luncheon during the conference. During the conference, the recipient will have the opportunity to shadow experienced GlobaLinks Learning Abroad staff, network with international education professionals, assist at GlobaLinks Learning Abroad's exhibition booth, and take on a potential project.
