Matthew Dudman University: Edith Cowan University Degree Program: Master of Professional Communications What made you choose Australia? The opportunity to study abroad as an international student in Australia was extremely exciting. With Australia as the destination, there was no doubt that experiencing a new city and country would serve me well. Studying in Perth, Australia was extremely exciting. Perth offered world-class education in a healthy economy. With a strong, sophisticated, and vibrant city as the backdrop to my academic studies, I was thrilled I had the opportunity to learn and experience a whole new world. Oh yes…the weather, the beaches, the people, the accent, the outdoors, the opportunities, and the experience of a lifetime! How did you select your university? I chose Edith Cowan University (ECU) for a variety of reasons; however, the main reasons to study there were because of their ability to not only show their academic excellence, but also their willingness to help students expand their knowledge while allowing them to grow as individuals as well. Two key aspects to this were the articulation agreement between Sheridan College Institute of Technology and Advanced Learning and Edith Cowan University, as well as ECU’s reputation for accepting many different students from around the world – Europe, Africa, North America, South America, Asia – I met people from many different countries, many of which I can call life-long friends! What program did you study and what were some highlights? I enrolled in the Master of Professional Communications degree program. The ability to complete the Master of Professional Communications degree program with the flexibility and academic advisement that ECU offered was a definite highlight. It was more than just strict academics at ECU; it was about the academic experience encompassing academics, life, meeting new people, and learning new and exciting things daily! Any advice you want to share with other students considering getting their degree abroad? The ability to travel, meet new people, and enjoy all that Australia had to offer was the chance of a lifetime and is highly recommended to anyone looking for the next step! |
