We utilize a unique 4-point philosophy to manage your study abroad experience. It is through these points that we provide you the personalized support you need to achieve your study abroad goals.

#1 Personal Program Selection and Planning

• Personal counselors: You will always have our personal attention. Our staff have studied abroad and are experts on the programs which they advise. 
• Academic planning: We help you select subjects and obtain credit transfer.
• Program match: We offer a wide variety of study abroad programs, and we'll help you determine the right program for you.
• Location and housing: Find the most suitable location in our wide range of destinations, and live in pre-arranged accommodation.
• Minority/Diversity/Disabled/GLBTQ Students/Special Interests: We offer support to ALL students – please ask us!
• Financial Consultation: Budget planning, payment plans, financial aid transfer, and a wide range of study abroad scholarships.

#2 Orientation and Preparation 

• The MyLearn online website and process: Through our MyLearn technology tool students receive easy to complete enrollment information, a comprehensive to-do list, and all pre-departure details.
• Comprehensive orientation materials and webinar: You will receive fully detailed information by mail, in a group online session, and some useful travel gear too!
• Airline ticket assistance: Both group and individual airline tickets for you, your parents, and friends.
• Immigration visas and passports guidance: We will help you get the right documents.
• Family connections: Consultation with parents and advisors is expected and encouraged.

#3 Cultural Integration – Living and Learning Abroad 

• Bridging Cultures Programs (in-country): We help to prepare you for your experience with on-site culture learning programs for all programs either as a 3-6 day experience or during your first few days with the group.

• Travel and excursions: Optional Spring Break trips, weekend travel, and independent travel opportunities are available.
• Volunteering: We encourage volunteerism specifically in our longer-term programs through environmental-focused Service Learning Introduction programs or activities arranged by the host campus or community.
• Guaranteed housing: We guarantee pre-arranged accommodation.
• Language development: We have on-site language instruction/immersion in our foreign speaking destinations and also encourage foreign language study in our Englishspeaking destinations.
• On-site resident staff: Available to students 24-hours-a-day through toll free numbers and/or walk in service. Parents have access to 24 hours a day support in North America as well!
• On-Site academic mentors: Available at your campus, with your group leader, or through our overseas offices.

#4 Reflection and Application of the Experience 

• “Beyond Study Abroad”: On-site group sessions or online information debriefing the experience and creating a springboard for your return home and future careers.
• The enCompass Alumni Program: Stay involved when you return home through various activities and connections to other alumni.
• Future International Educator Award: If a career in International Education interests you, complete the enCompass Program and apply for this award!
• Program evaluations: Evaluate your experience for future students.
• Resume building and review: We will send your resume to a Professional Resume Consultant for a review and critique.
• Alumni Handbook: Includes useful information on reverse culture shock, career search, and going abroad again.
• Transcript services: For our credit bearing programs, we send official transcripts and grading conversions to your university plus a copy to you. You may also apply for your credits to appear on a U.S. transcript from our well-respected School of Record, University of Minnesota- Twin Cities.
