GlobaLinks Learning Abroad has designed this ICMS program with your individual student goals in mind. It is built around a unique Discovery Model which is delivered by some of the best staff in study abroad, both in the U.S. and overseas, in order to provide you with an individualized experience through discovery in 5 key areas: personal, academic, cultural, social, and professional. GlobaLinks Learning Abroad, formerly known as AustraLearn, offers semester and year abroad programs at the International College of Management, Sydney. The International College of Management, Sydney (ICMS) offers an exciting location for those students wishing to undertake a study abroad program. Not only can you study in one of Sydney’s most beautiful locations overlooking Manly Beach and Sydney Harbour, the comprehensive academic and social programs ensure that you experience the Australian lifestyle while learning within an internationally recognised institution. ICMS offers subjects in the following areas: Business, Marketing, Hospitality Management, Event Management, Property Management, Sport Management, Retail Services Management and International Tourism.

Internship Component
There are two internship options available at ICMS. The first option allows you to complete an internship for credit along with classes. The second option is for students wishing to study abraod for two semesters. The first semester is a traditional classload and the second is a partially-paid internship.

ICMS is located in a beautiful heritage listed sand stone building overlooking Manly beach. It would be hard to find a college in a more spectacular position. To the north, there are views of the Pacific Ocean and to the south the college has sweeping views of Sydney Harbor. The campus is a five-minute walk to Manly beach and shopping precinct with its cafes, restaurants and boutique stores. ICMS is also close enough to downtown Sydney – 15 minutes by fast ferry – for visits to art galleries, museums, the best city shops and even the Sydney Opera House and Harbour Bridge.
Internship DetailsICMS has developed a unique internship program allowing you to combine your Study Abroad experience with an industry internship. This is the perfect opportunity to gain exposure to an international work environment while you study. You have the option of a one semester study abroad program, which a part-time, non-paid internship for credit or a two semester study abroad program, with the second semester as a partially paid internship.
Option 1: Study Abroad for One Semester with a Part-Time Internship for Credit
Take 3 academic subjects and have the internship count as your 4th subject. This internship is 10 hours per week in either a Sydney based company or based at ICMS, where you will complete a set task or project as assigned by the employer. There is also an academic component to this internship with weekly journals, a final project and a presentation. Internships available in all areas of study ICMS offers. This internship option is for credit but is not paid.
Entry Requirements: Meet the standard study abroad program entry requirements plus have a GPA of 3.0. No previous work experience or internship necessary. You can be from any major to apply for this internship.
Option 2: Study Abroad for Two Semesters with a Partially-Paid Internship
If you choose this study abroad option, then the first semester is all coursework and the second semester is a full-time partially-paid industry internship. Click here for more information on this internship option.

HousingAs a GlobaLinks Learning Abroad student you are guaranteed pre-arranged accommodation to fit your lifestyle. There are a variety of housing options available which you will apply for after acceptance. Read below for more specific options offered at this university:
Study Abroad students at ICMS have on-campus and off-campus accommodation options. On-campus rooms are equipped with desk/study facilities, heating and a telephone with voicemail, and have all linen provided. Each floor is equipped with common bathrooms and toilets, and a kitchenette you can use to make a quick snack. Off-campus accommodation options includes homestay (limited) and apartment living arranged upon arrival. Academic HighlightsA cornerstone of the ICMS approach to education is that learning is enhanced when theory is combined with practical experience. Each course is built around real business experiences and developed in conjunction with top professionals to ensure its relevance and value.
ICMS is highly regarded by industry professionals and has won many awards in the last decade. Most recently, ICMS was the winner of the 2009 Premier’s Export Award for Education. University ServicesICMS boasts an extensive library, quiet study areas, syndicate rooms ideal for group tutorial-type activity and an academic support center. There is also a grand ballroom with a 250-person seating capacity, a formal dining room with seating for 200, a courtyard cafe and student common room.
There are fully equipped theory classrooms and computer laboratories with 24-hour email and Internet access. Students can also take advantage of a wireless network with access to the Internet and online classrooms.OrientationBridging Cultures Program
The GlobaLinks Learning Abroad Bridging Cultures Program is our signature orientation program for all semester and year abroad students. The cost for this multi-day program is included in your program fees and covers several nights accommodation, most meals, local transportation, and excursions.

Orientation sites vary based on the location of your program. Each site is selected based on the proximity to your host university as well as for the unique activities available within the area.

ICMS Orientation
In addition ICMS will provide an onsite orientation after arrival at the university.
ICMS has an extensive social, sporting and cultural activity schedule. ICMS has a dedicated Student Affairs Manager to coordinate all college activities.
Study Abroad students also have a one-week intensive orientation program when they first arrive at ICMS. This program includes: surf safety, team building, tours of Manly and Sydney, program briefings, welcome function, Aussie party with Australian native animals show and much more.
Scholarships AvailableIn addition to scholarships offered by GlobaLinks Learning Abroad, International College of Management, Sydney offers $10,000 per year to be disbursed to GlobaLinks Learning Abroad students attending a semester abroad in the standard study abroad program or the study internship combo program. Discovery Activities
Planned Excursions & Events
Our in-country resident staff arranges scheduled activities with students throughout the year. Activities are optional and designed to explore the five key areas of discovery: academic, social, personal, cultural, and professional. These are not just visits to tourist attractions. For example, these are activities such as networking opportunities, local festivals, gallery openings, and other similar events that you can’t find in a travel book. These activities will truly enhance your experience.
On-Going Activities
Your exploration of the culture, the academics, the people, and yourself is what will truly enhance your experience. Through the Discovery Model, our in-country staff will provide you with advice and recommendations for other types of activities you can undertake in order achieve your individual goals.
Specific Excursions Included in Your Program Fees
Multi Day Excursions included in your program fee
In addition to the Bridging Cultures Program, a free multi-day excursion is included in all semester/year abroad programs in Australia, New Zealand, or Fiji. Students studying in these destinations can choose from one of the four excursions listed to the right. The cost of the excursion is included; however, you will need to pay for transportation to the destination. Learn more>
Other Tours and Travel Available
Beyond our included orientation and excursions, you will be able to pre-book a wide variety of day, weekend, and week-long tours at a discounted price through our travel partner, STA Travel. These trips provide the ultimate flexibility for you to travel where you want to go, when you want to go, and with whom you want to go. Most trips have open dates, so you can pre-book the trip(s) that interest you, yet choose your dates later on in your semester. This flexibility also means friends that you make from other countries/programs or even your friends and family who are visiting you abroad can also participate. At ICMS, we don’t expect you to spend your entire semester with your head buried in a book! The College’s rich social and sporting life is there to be enjoyed. Activities include basketball, volleyball, tennis, swimming, and soccer.
You can also take advantage of weekend trips to the snow fields, Central Coast, and Blue Mountains. For an adrenalin rush, you can even try indoor rock climbing, sky diving, white water rafting, sailing, fishing, surfing, scuba diving, and horse riding – to name a few.
The Student Club at ICMS holds themed events on campus often. These events include talent shows, karaoke, Asian food festivals, and Brazilian Carnival nights. For the more classically minded, there are opportunities to attend concerts and plays in Sydney theatres, open-air venues, and even the Sydney Opera House.

   Enhance Your ExperienceGlobal Citizens Development Modules
The Global Citizen Development modules are online learning components designed to help you explore your study abroad destination and experience at a whole new level. These modules are not mandatory, however we strongly encourage your participation as they will introduce you to the opportunities and challenges you may encounter when participating in a study abroad program, as well as expose you to cultural insights and knowledge about your host country to help make your program abroad even more successful and fulfilling. Through the 3 modules, you will refine your skills in cross-cultural observation, adaptation, and communication.

Additional Housing Fee
Housing with meals (meals included) costs range from approximatly $5,300 -6,700*
Housing amenities are generally:

An additional refundable housing deposit may be required for your housing selection. This housing is self-catered, therefore you will have access to a kitchen where you can prepare your own meals.

Entry RequirementsStudents seeking acceptance for the ICMS internship (available in all three terms - February, May, and September) must have been accepted to study at ICMS and have previous internship or work experience in the interested internship area.
Applicants to study abroad at ICMS must have the required GPA and have completed at least the equivalent of one year of full-time study at the university/college level. A 3.0 GPA is required to apply for an internship placement.
Participants of this program should be majoring in Hospitality, Event Management. Business Management, Sports Management, Tourism, or Property Management.
Students with a lower GPA than the requirement may be considered on a case by case basis. Please contact our office for more information.
