Founded in 1888, Mahidol University is one of the oldest educational institutions in Thailand, and today, includes 16 faculties, 8 institutions, 3 hospitals, and 6 colleges. The university supports a student body of over 19,000 and with over 2,600 faculty; the teacher student ratio is the best of any university in Thailand. The Thai government presented the prestigious Prime Minister’s Export Award to Mahidol University International College (MUIC) for its outstanding performance as an international institution of higher learning.

Selected for the Best Service Provider Category, MUIC has been offering an international standard education curriculum for both Thai and foreign students for the past 25 years now. The college also sends  its students to numerous universities abroad on exchange programs.

Mahidol University International College (MUIC) was established to deliver English-taught degree programs that embody the finest standards possible to a diverse population of full-time students from Thailand and around the world. Programs in the social sciences, business, and tourism management stand alongside offerings in health and natural sciences. In addition to these, the College offers general education courses in foreign languages and humanities.

The MUIC is located at Mahidol University’s Salaya campus on 500 acres of managed land, including parklands and sports facilities. Salaya is a thriving campus town and residential suburb of Bangkok. The center of Bangkok is only 20km from campus. Although most MUIC students are Thai, there are also students from over 40 different countries attending Mahidol University. This mix of students provides an opportunity to make friends and contacts in Asia and throughout the world that will last a lifetime.

Want to learn more about study abroad in Thailand?

Thailand is full of beautiful landscapes, architecture, culture, and natives that will keep you entertained and always wondering what will be discovered next. Situated in Southeast Asia, Thailand shares its borders with Myanmar in the west and north, Laos in the northeast, Cambodia in the east, and Malaysia in the south.

With so many countries nearby, Thailand has become a crossroad for Southeast Asia’s migration, culture, and religion.

Thailand is administratively divided into seven regions, each region having its own distinct geographical build. Northern Thailand offers a mountainous and forest-covered terrain while central Thailand is known as the “rice bowl,” because it houses the most fertile rice and fruit growing land. In the Eastern region lie the picturesque beaches and relaxing summer resorts, which complement the south peninsula’s gorgeous scenery and fishing atmosphere.

Special Programs and Excursions

Planned Excursions & Events

Our in-country resident staff arranges scheduled activities with students throughout the year. Activities are optional and designed to explore the five key areas of discovery: academic, social, personal, cultural, and professional. These are not just visits to tourist attractions. For example, these are activities such as networking opportunities, local festivals, gallery openings, and other similar events that you can’t find in a travel book. These activities will truly enhance your experience.

On-Going Activities

Your exploration of the culture, the academics, the people, and yourself is what will truly enhance your experience. Through the Discovery Model, our in-country staff will provide you with advice and recommendations for other types of activities you can undertake in order achieve your individual goals.

Other Destinations

In addition to the Bridging Cultures Program, many of the institutions provide excursions which are included in the program fee. These may be field trips associated with your classes or multi-day excursions with other international students from around the world.

Other Tours and Travel Available

Beyond our included orientation and excursions, you will be able to pre-book a wide variety of day, weekend, and week-long tours at a discounted price through our travel partner, STA Travel. These trips provide the ultimate flexibility for you to travel where you want to go, when you want to go, and with whom you want to go. Most trips have open dates, so you can pre-book the trip(s) that interest you, yet choose your dates later on in your semester. This flexibility also means friends that you make from other countries/programs or even your friends and family who are visiting you abroad can also participate. Learn more>

Get Involved Abroad

While abroad, we recommend getting involved in your local community. It's an awesome way to meet locals, experience the true Thai culture, and create long lasting memories. From volunteering to festival-going, we challenge you to make the most of your international experience... See a how to live like a local and become involved with community activities avaliable in Thailand or discover your own upon arrival.

You'll get a taste of how enriching community involvement can be during your first few days in Thailand on GlobaLinks Learning Abroad's Bridging Cultures Program. The program includes one day of pre-arranged volunteering with the local community. You'll interact directly with locals while giving back to and sharing your own culture with the community that first welcomes you to Thailand.  Plus, you can continue your volunteer efforts throughout the semester making a profound impact on the local community.

Also, each semester students are invited to participate in a variety of optional affordable excursions organized by Mahidol University and the GlobaLinks Learning Abroad Resident Coordinator. Each activity is designed to be fun and educational so that students gain a deeper appreciation for the arts, culture, and history. Examples include:

  • Thai cooking class
  • Traditional Thai drama and dance
  • Visit historic temples
  • Excursion to one of Thailand’s southern islands
