In 2003, James Cook University opened a branch campus in Singapore offering programs brought directly from Australia and guaranteeing students the same quality and enriching university education as found on their main campus. The popularity of this campus has grown to such an extent that in July 2008, JCU Singapore relocated to a larger, newly renovated university campus to accommodate the growing numbers of students from Singapore and around the world. The new campus has comprehensive modern university facilities including tutorial rooms, library, lecture theatre, computer labs, student lounge, sports facilities and cafeteria. The campus has large grounds with plenty of greenery and is located in a suburb north of the central business district (CBD).
JCU Singapore was awarded the Singapore Quality Class award for Private Education Organizations – a prestigious award from the government of Singapore which very few colleges have been awarded. James Cook University Australia, Singapore Campus is the first and only Australian University in Singapore to have been awarded this status. JCU offers an exceptional education experience to students from around the world, in Singapore.

LocationSingapore is both a country and a city with 4.5 million people and four official languages: Malay, Mandarin, Tamil, and English. Malay is the national language, and English is the language of business. The standard of living in Singapore is among the highest in Asia, with state-of-the-art facilities for education, shopping, sports, and recreation. It has a diverse population of Chinese, Malay, Indian, Eurasian, and other ethnic groups. One cannot help but notice how clean and green the country is and how friendly the locals are to visitors. These observations may be attributed to social campaigns like the Courtesy Campaign, Keep Singapore Clean, and Keep Singapore Green.
With no natural resources of its own, Singapore has leveraged its strategic location as a trading hub, adhered to an open market economy, and focused on manufacturing while investing heavily in education. By the 1990s, the country had become one of the world’s most prosperous nations with the highest per capita gross domestic product in Asia outside of Japan. The Port of Singapore is one of the busiest in the world, alongside Hong Kong and Shanghai.
